XO Tabletop / Production preparation
From playtest to first production run.
On xo.games, we continue to develop and test the game. Here on XO Stars, makers and digital pledgers can follow how one selected game version could become a practical, tested physical edition.

XO Stars / path to production
One edition. Visible steps.
A new game idea may already be ahead of the version we manufacture. That is why each physical edition gets its own version and making journal.
A game to learn from
P001.1 is available as Print & Play. Playtesting and design work continue on xo.games.

Digital pledgers / package in preparation
Help make it possible.
Follow what takes shape.
The proposal: access to a digital making journal with design decisions, sample reports and opportunities to contribute ideas. See what your support helps advance and which decisions remain open.
Before the first pledge
- We identify the edition and explain what the support is for.
- You see the digital contents, price and terms before contributing.
- A physical box is included only when the pledge explicitly says so.
- Updates show what has been made, tested and decided.
No tabletop pledge is available to buy yet. The proposed North Star pledges on the homepage belong to that separate initiative.

Prepare the first production brief
- The result
- A component list tied to a specific version, covering the board, cards, playing pieces and packaging, with proposed materials and a trial plan. Discuss open decisions with a board game manufacturer, then request a sample and a quote.
- Ready to use
- Paper prototype P001.1, Dutch and English Print & Play, and the existing playtest environment on xo.games.
- Next
- Review a physical sample first. Then agree on production quantity, price, quality requirements and delivery before a production pledge opens.
A maker brief helps start the conversation. Downloading does not reserve a commission. Agree on scope, compensation, timing and use of the result before making begins.
- Game development continues. For a physical edition, we separately record which rules and files go to the manufacturer.
- Digital support and a physical order are different pledges. No tabletop campaign, orders or production slots have opened yet.
- Game progress, pledger contributions and production progress are reported separately.
